Public debating

The UDS runs a thriving weekly public debating programme each semester. Welcoming experts from around the world, as well as giving a platform for students to speak, our weekly public debates are free and open to all students.

Attending public events

We are so excited to have you join us at our public events! Please make sure you arrive at the location on or just before the advertised time. Unless specified otherwise, academic gowns are encouraged but not necessary - we love celebrating the University's rich history. During our public events remember to be respectful to our wonderful speaker(s). At most events there is an opportunity for floor speeches or questions - so feel free to break out a pen and paper!

You must produce your student matriculation card to gain free entry to all of our public events.
